"Father Jimmy Drennan, pastor of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church on the city’s Southeast Side, is a longtime leader in COPS Metro Alliance, a grass-roots advocacy organization marking its 50th year.
For COPS Metro, the work remains the same.
“We rise against any adversity whatsoever,” Drennan said. “ We will continue to advocate for the safety of every single person in the city of San Antonio.
“We will look to the future and consider new ways by which we need to address the fears of children, the fears of families and the fears of anyone however they find themselves in our community, to be present to them and to be Christ to them,” he said.
“If we try to approach this individually,” he said, “we will probably fail. But when we bind individuals, families, neighborhoods, church communities, neighborhood communities, our entire city, with those of other cities in the state and other states in the United States, we will be able to create a voice that continually demands justice.”
