With Early Voting in Full Swing, COPS/Metro Leaders Press on To Defend Public Money for Public Good

While the Spurs are pouring millions into mailers to boost Prop B - public funding of a new luxury stadium - COPS/Metro leaders have been organizing for over a year to prioritize neighborhoods over corporate handouts, and are ramping up their Get Out the Vote ground game.

Leaders signed up thousands of people in their neighborhoods, institutions, and community events to support defending public money for public good. Now, they are phone banking and hitting the streets to educate the public on what's at stake and deliver their constituency to the polls.

“If the revenues from designated tax structures like the increased hotel tax, the TIRZ (Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone) and the project finance zone do not produce the revenue needed to pay the city's debt, the taxpayers will pay this cost," said COPS/Metro Leader Ruben Arciniega. "Let me repeat, the taxpayers will pay this cost."
