COPS/Metro Moves Forward

COPS/Metro applauds the record number of Bexar County voters who came to the polls and made their voices heard on Proposition B. We respect the will of the voters and the final outcome.

We will continue to work to ensure that Public Money is directed to the Public Good. Our community has critical needs to be addressed, and we will work to represent the priorities of families and neighborhoods. These include long-needed investments in neighborhood and flood control infrastructure, public safety, schools and workforce development.

As the City of San Antonio and Bexar County work out the terms for the arena, this next phase is critical.

COPS/Metro is committed to engaging with City and County leadership to ensure the final project serves the best interests of all San Antonians. We will be working to ensure that:

• Workers on the project receive living wages, with a demonstrated preference for union and locally-owned contractors in all aspects of Project Marvel.
• The City of San Antonio incorporates clear accountability measures in all contracts.
• The City prioritizes and directs funding for infrastructure and other community needs through upcoming bond issues.
• A citizen’s review committee is established to provide public oversight for every stage of Project Marvel, with an official capacity to report to the City Council and the public.

We look forward to meeting with business and political leadership soon to help shape a final project that benefits our entire community.
