COPS/Metro Leaders Share Stories and West Side Parish History at St. Mary's University

On October 4th, current and former COPS/Metro leaders shared stories and history from Westside parishes as part of an event at St. Mary's University sponsored by the St. Mary's University Center for Catholic Studies and the O'Connor Chair for the History of Hispanic Texas and the Southwest.

Fr. Mike DeGerolami, Natalia Tovar, and former leader Fr. David Garcia took the microphone to talk about how COPS helped West Side parishes transform their neighborhoods, and put their faith into action, telling stories of junkyards transformed into parks, drug houses closed, streets paved, and people transformed into leaders. COPS/Metro has also recently partnered with St. Mary's public history classes to gather oral histories from leaders.
